This etching with hand-colouring is hand signed by the artist in pencil "Niki de Saint Phalle" in the lower right image.
The work was printed uin a small edition and each impression was hand painted by Niki de Saint Phalle individually making each one unique.
It is also inscribed “for Ted. with health, laughter, fabulous trips, new encounters, tango lessons, inspiration and all the best for the coming year, love Nikita”, in the lower margin. The word love is followed by a hand drawn heart.
Provenance: Ted Tourtellotte (1928-2022). Gifted from the artist.
Ted was born in Wilburton, Oklahoma in 1928.
He was a close friend of Niki de Saint Phalle. They first met through a mutual friend, Christian DuMonteil. It was upon Niki’s move to La Jolla, California, near the San Diego house that Ted had retired to, that they became almost inseparable until Niki's passing in 2002.
Condition: Excellent condition.
