This lithograph is hand signed in pencil by the artist "Marc Chagall" at the lower right image.
It is also hand numbered in pencil from the edition of 200, at the lower left margin. There were also 50 impressions numbered with Roman numerals.
It was printed by Charles Sorlier and published by Mourlot Imprimeur, Paris in 1964.
Inscribed in the stone ‘D'après Marc Chagall - Ch. Sorlier Grav.’ in the lower left image.
Note: This magnificent large-scale lithograph was created from a study for "Les sources de la musique" [The Sources of Music] in 1967. The subject was also used as the basis of a renowned poster (with text) announcing the premiere of Mozart's "Magic Flute" on 19 February 1967 held at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. Chagall was also responsible for creating and designing both the set and the performers’ costumes.
