This original etching is signed with the Picasso stamp in the lower right margin.
It is numbered in pencil, from the edition of 50, in the lower left margin.
The plate was realised by Picasso in 1938 but two editions were printed and published much later, one in 1942 and one in 1961. This is from the later edition.
It was printed in a limited edition of 50 impressions. There were a further 16 artists proofs. (The edition of 1942 was printed in an edition of 30 impressions, with ten artist’s proofs).
It was printed by Atelier Frélaut, Paris and published by Galerie Louise Leiris, Paris.
The paper bears two bull watermarks at the central left and the central right of the image.
The subject is also known as, ‘Deux femmes assises’, [Two Seated Women].
